Vision Therapy
Vision is more than 20/20 eyesight.
It is a complex process involving over twenty visual abilities and two-thirds of all of the pathways to the brain. Nearly 80% of what a child perceives, comprehends and remembers depends on the efficiency of the visual system. Current research indicates that approximately one out of four children have vision problems that interfere with their ability to achieve.
Problems with the visual system do not always present in obvious ways and can have significant impacts on learning and success. Clarity of vision is important, however a child with “normal” 20/20 vision may still experience eye tracking issues, eye teaming issues, visual perception issues, or focusing problems that can significantly reduce the quality of their vision and impact their ability to focus and complete their schoolwork.
Following your child’s eye health examination, it may be recommended that they return for further binocular vision testing to determine if vision therapy would be helpful. If you suspect your child may have any eye-tracking, vision perception, or eye-teaming issues please call to schedule their eye health examination at your earliest convenience.
After completion of a full evaluation, vision therapy services are provided at our office. Our doctors and vision therapists work together to determine the best treatment course for each individual child and to monitor their progress as the therapy progresses.
